This role works under the guidance of a Project Manager or Senior PM and ensures project activities are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with agency standards. Ideal for someone ready to level up their game and learn how real projects get built.

Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Documentation

Assist in developing project schedules, work plans, and sequencing for multiple trades.

Prepare, track, and update submittals, RFIs, meeting minutes, and daily/weekly logs.

Maintain project documentation compliant with agency requirements (Caltrans, SFPUC, SFMTA, LLNL, USACE, etc.).

Participate in pre-construction, progress, and closeout meetings.

Field Support

Conduct regular job-site walks to document progress, verify quantities, and support the superintendent.

Monitor subcontractor activities to ensure safety, quality, and schedule compliance.

Support quality control processes, punch lists, and correction tracking.

Cost & Contract Administration

Assist with preparing cost proposals, change order packages, and quantity take-offs.

Review subcontractor invoices, timecards, equipment logs, and material deliveries.

Help maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost-tracking logs.

Stakeholder & Agency Coordination

Support communication with clients, inspectors, design teams, and subcontractors.

Ensure compliance with permitting, environmental, safety, and labor requirements.

Help coordinate utility shutdowns, site access, traffic control, and logistics.

Safety & Compliance

Promote and reinforce the project’s safety expectations and JHA/Tailgate requirements.

Assist with incident logs, safety audits, and corrective actions.

Ensure adherence to applicable OSHA, Cal-OSHA, EM-385, and agency standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field; or equivalent field experience.

1–3 years of construction experience (internships, field engineering, estimating, or project coordination roles preferred).

Experience with civil, sitework, or public-works projects is a plus.

Skills

Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to read and interpret plans, specs, and technical documents.

Proficiency with construction software (Bluebeam, Procore, HCSS, MS Project, etc.).

Comfortable working in fast-paced, schedule-driven environments.

Strong teamwork mindset — no divas; just people who get the work done.

Work Environment

Split between field and office.

Must be able to work nights/weekends for shutdowns or emergency response when required.

Ability to walk job sites, climb ladders, and navigate uneven terrain.

Who Thrives in This Role

Someone hungry to learn and grow into a full Project Manager.

Someone who communicates clearly and isn’t afraid to walk a job site with confidence.

Someone who can juggle tasks without dropping the ball — or at least knows how to pick it back up fast.

And yes… someone who brings that “sí se puede” spirit to every project.
